Greetings, everyone!
Based on the weather forecasts and news coverage I’ve seen the past couple of weeks, I sure am glad we’re located in the Florida Keys! Not to rub it in if you are reading this from somewhere cold, but we’ve had some perfect weather this month – not too hot, not too cold… the perfect weather for swimming with dolphins. ;)
Speaking of swimming with dolphins, I’m happy to report that we have enjoyed a busier-than-usual February and have seen a steady stream of guests to the facility since the turn of the new year. The proceeds from these guests fuel every part of our mission and if the trends continue, we should make some large strides with our mission. (with COVID safety protocols in place, of course!)
In other news, February would typically be busy with last minute planning and logistics of our annual Connect to Protect Gala. In fact, this weekend would have been the date for this event. Of course with the pandemic ongoing, we can’t safely gather for this fundraiser, so our fundraising team has been working on some alternate fundraisers that are more “covid-friendly.” Although I’m sad I won’t get to hang out with our closest supporters this Saturday, I am excited for February 27th. Planning for the Gala is a year-round process, which means starting on the 27th, we will begin planning our 3rd Annual Connect to Protect gala for 2022! (See you there?)
As we gear up for a spring break season, I hope you are also gearing up for warmer weather and brighter days ahead. I’m looking forward to sharing more updates with you as we continue to progress and have some exciting new programs to announce soon.
Stay well, keep warm, and we hope to see you soon!
