Happy Spring!
No really – it’s been a great Spring season and we are loving every minute of it. We are proud to share with you that for the past month and a half, we connected with over 2,000 people at our facility headquarters! To say we have been busy is an understatement, but it has been a great feeling to connect so many people to our dolphin family and share our message of marine conservation.
Spring is characterized by new life and change, and this particular spring season we have experienced our own changes! Spring evaluations for our team members brought about new opportunities for growth; Kayla & Dani have been promoted to Senior Trainers; Brooke, Cristina, and Jenna have all earned a promotion to the “Trainer One” level; Dougie has been promoted to “Facility Maintenance Manager” and is helping with many of our development projects; and finally, Andrea Wood has been promoted to Office Manager. I’m so proud of the team of people who work tirelessly on achieving DPMMR’s mission and want to take this time to congratulate and acknowledge all of their hard-work.
With all of these great changes also comes the news of two of our team moving on to do other great things in the world! Andrea S, our current office manager, will be helping with her family canoe business in Wisconsin, an exciting opportunity that we know she will thrive with! Also, Luke, a 10-year veteran of our organization, was called upon to help care for a population of 8 dolphins in Key Largo at a neighboring facility. Although we will miss seeing him everyday at DPMMR, we know this is a positive change for both Luke and the new animals. We are very happy that Luke will be staying on at DPMMR in an advisory role within our team and we will still see him regularly. I want to thank both of these team members for their hard work and dedication to DPMMR and wish them the best with their new adventures! Additionally, with this new change, Hunter’s role has expanded and grown and he is now promoted to the position of “Supervisor of Animal Care and Training/Assistant Director of Marketing, Fundraising, and Development”. I am more than confident that he will shine in this role of “many hats”, as he is already well equipped to handle these many responsibilities.
Although we are experiencing some change with this spring season, I have full faith that great things come from change. It seems every time there is a period of change with DPMMR, the organization itself is strengthened, experiences growth, and ultimately is better positioned to save whales & dolphins. It’s a great time to be a part of the DPMMR family and it’s great to have you as a part of our journey!
If things continue on their current trends, we are shaping up to have a busy summer. It would be great to see you this summer, and we would love to introduce you (or re-introduce you) to our dolphin family.
See you Soon!
Nancy
