Happy New Year! 

I have to say I don’t think I have ever been more excited to start a new year! Buh-bye 2020 and helllooooooo 2021! I am thrilled to start this year off with a clean slate, the promise of a vaccine for COVID-19, the idea of hugging loved ones again (I am a hugger so last year was extra tough), traveling…maybe even on an airplane (!!), eating dinner in an actual restaurant, and the light at the end of the tunnel for everyone’s financial and emotional challenges. 

I am so looking forward to seeing friends and family from near and far, both in my personal life and at DPMMR. Our marine mammal family definitely missed seeing the usual suspects and supporters who frequent our facility, annually. So, we cannot WAIT to see these smiling faces in 2021! We will welcome everyone with open arms and show them all of the facility improvements we are able to start the year off with because of our generous donors (E.g., new dock system for the guests, trainers, and dolphins, repaired and painted fence, back lot cleared and graveled (for an upcoming surprise program that will be announced very soon), guest benches and picnic tables sanded and painted, and a new landscaping plan coming soon). 

Kicking off 2021 the right way, we are hosting a new fundraiser (running the whole month of January), dedicated to support the care of our 7 resident Atlantic bottlenose dolphins. As you all know, the health and wellbeing of our marine mammal family is our number one priority and providing them with the top notch welfare includes providing a nutritious diet, veterinary care at the drop of a hat, a stimulating environment, and lots of love and attention, which all comes with a hefty price tag. In order to help raise money for our resident animals, we are selling shirts with the unique dorsal fins of all 7 animals on the back. 100% of the proceeds from this fundraiser will be going to help us care for Alfonz, BB, Bob, Dinghy, Jessica, Jett, & Tug!
